Andrew Yang suspends campaign for the US presidency for not having enough support to achieve the original goal.
Andrew Yang closes campaign for US presidency
Andrew Yang, a candidate for the US presidency for the Democratic Party, who openly endorsed the use of digital currencies and Blockchain technology as part of his presidential proposals, announced this week the cessation of his campaign for public office because of the bad results seen to date.
During a press conference, Yang reported that he saw very unlikely to reach the presidential race, adding:
“While there is great work left to be done, you know, I am the math guy, and it is clear tonight from the numbers that we are not going to win this race. … Tonight, I am announcing that I am suspending my campaign for president”
Yang gained a lot of popularity among cryptocurrency and Blockchain enthusiasts residing in the country, since his proposals were aimed at formalizing the use of digital currencies and incorporating new technologies into his government system, with the intention of making more transparent bidding processes, public funds management and electoral processes.
As for cryptocurrencies, Yang emphasized during his campaign the need to make friendly regulations in the US, since more restrictive frameworks would simply promote secrecy and insecurity in the process, since people would also show interest in marketing their digital currencies.
