Analysts are unaware if the operations were carried out by Vitalik Buterin, a member of the Ethereum team or a crypto whale.

Recently, Ethereum network enthusiasts expressed their concern at suspicions that the project’s co-founder, Vitalik Buterin, could be the person after the sale of about USD $25 million in ETH funds through various exchanges.

According to data reported by various block explorers, on December 25 there was a set of operations with large amounts of ETH: From the same address, a person transferred some 92,000 ETH (estimated at more than USD $11.5 million) to Kraken exchange; another 99,987 ETH (USD $12,590 million) to Huobi; and about 25,908 ETH (USD $3,264 million) sent to Binance.

Buterin or crypto whale?

Although the movement of such quantities of ETH is not strange within this ecosystem, analysts and community enthusiasts hypothesize about the possibility that these operations may have been carried out by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, who in previous years made commercial operations through various exchanges taking advantage of what seemed good prices in the main markets.

On the other hand, other people in different networks and forums reject that Buterin has been the person responsible for these transactions, precisely because large-scale operations could have detrimental effects on the price of digital currency in the main markets, especially at these times when The currency is around USD $126 per unit.

However, although there is still no official pronouncement by Buterin confirming or denying the suspicions, analysts do not rule out that it could be one of the members of the development team precisely because of the large amount of funds contained in the same address.

About the ETH market

This last week, the digital currency market experienced a slight downward trend that replicated the main cryptocurrencies of the ecosystem.

In the case of Ethereum, although the digital currency seems to recover slightly compared to yesterday, its value experienced a fall from December 23 to date, going from USD $133 to USD $127.

Although the digital currency is in second place among those with the highest volume of commercial operations, Ether opened and practically closed the year handling similar prices. The moment when the cryptocurrency registered its highest value was at the end of June, when it exceeded USD $45 per unit.

For now, it is not clear how this group of transactions will influence the aforementioned exchanges, so the recommendation remains to closely monitor any fluctuations in the coming days.
