One of the benefits of the rise of the Internet, as well as the rise of social media, is that there has become more diverse than ever voices speaking on various issues. This includes Youtubers, bloggers, personalities and so on as virtually every topic has everyday people who are able to garner the following in various niches. It should also be noted that cryptocurrency has, in many ways, been a community effort as there are many resources, forums and so on are dedicated to the topic as well as influencers within the niche.
However, several content creators on the YouTube platform who specialize in crypto-related issues have stated that their content is now been censored by the video giant.
This discussion was sparked by Chris Dunn, who is a Crypto YouTuber with almost a quarter-million followers on the platform who stated that YouTube had taken down his content for no reason.
“@YouTube just removed most of my crypto videos citing “harmful or dangerous content” and ‘sale of regulated goods’… it’s been 10 years of making videos, 200k+ subs, and 7M+ views. WTF are you guys doing @TeamYouTube?!” He tweeted.
Another Crypto YouTube who’s channel name is Node Investor tweeted about a similar issue on December 23, 2019.
“Merry Christmas to you also @YouTube. Apparently a video I posted two years ago on researching crypto’s is now illegal…Rules are changing,” the tweet said.
According to screenshots shared by Dunn, he had been served with the strike action for at least seven videos which means that they have been removed. Some of the videos that have been removed had titles such as “50 Crypto Trading & Investing Lessons from the Past 5 Years,” “Is Bitcoin Really Money?” and “The Future of Initial Coin Offerings.”
A strike action, in this case, prevents the YouTuber from uploading or streaming any content for about a week and the second strike action will lead to a longer ban from the platform. If a third strike action occurs within 90 days, the channel will be permanently banned from YouTube
